Pieces

By

You get a piece

I get a piece

Our silent vows we made

Through love you gain a piece of the other

And you give to them

What they gave to you

Loving is fair that way

The pieces in our heart

They grow

Exponentially, infinitely, boundlessly

For that is what we are

Both the sum and difference of our exchanges

Lustful glances

Moonlight dances

Hands held

And feelings felt

Long conversations in the trees

An abundance of memories

I am a mosaic of the ones I’ve known

I am a collection of the way love was shown

The piece I have of you

It’s crystal prism

Sitting on a sunny shelf

Casting rainbows across the room

And all of me

Knows color because of you

I am a mosaic of the love I’ve known

It shines brightly.
